Abstract:   (44 Views)
The present study was conducted to evaluate the environmental impacts of the Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method, based on 1 MWh of electricity generated during the operational phase. This study evaluates steam and combined cycle units independently, focusing on the differentiation of power generation technologies. Furthermore, a disaggregated model was implemented to determine the contribution of each input to the environmental load. For this purpose, two types of modeling were used to investigate and analyze environmental impacts. After collecting specialized and documented data from the power plant, data analysis was performed using Simapro9 software and CML-IA V3.05 (baseline) and IPCC methods in 9 impact categories. The results of the life cycle assessment of Shahid Rajaee Power Plant showed that the greatest environmental impacts were related to acidification potential, fossil resource depletion potential, and global warming. The global warming index during the life cycle was calculated to be 676 kg CO₂ eq per MWh of electricity produced by the power plant. According to the IPCC results, fossil fuel consumption had the greatest share in global warming potential, with 79 percent
